Recent news says that a Filipino dog lost her upper part snout because of saving two children from being hit by a motorcycle. The said dog is named "Kabang" a Visayan term for "Spotty". Later on, Kabang is diagnosed that she has two pups in her womb. Despite of being a pregnant dog, she still manages to save the two kids from being harmed the motorcycle and but with the price of her snout. Her loyalty to these family inspired lots of people to help her with the operation since her family is also poor.
Another dog story in Japan is also very famous because of the dog's loyalty. There even was a motion picture based on the story of this dog and how he always wait on the Shibuya train station for the comeback of his master from work. I f you still don't know who the dog is, It is Hachiko an Akita breed of dog from japan. "Hachi" means eight while "Ko" means duke or a prince. His remarkable story of loyalty is still famous even after many years his death.
In 1924, Professor Hidesaburo Ueno, a professor of the department agriculture at the University of Tokyo took a golden brown Akita and named it Hachiko as a pet. During his life with Hachiko, Hachiko always greets him at the end of the day in the nearby Shibuya train station for about one year, until Prof. Ueno suffered a cerebral hemorrhage at work and did not arrive at the train station anymore. For a short period of one year, Hachiko build up a loyalty to his master and for the long span of nine years of his life he still goes to that exact same spot at the train station everyday hoping that his master would come back home to see him again.
March 8, 1935, Hachiko was found dead on a street on Shibuya. His autopsy shows that he has yakitori sticks on his stomach but did not cause any damage and is not the main cause of his death. In March 2011 scientist finally know the real reason of his death which is terminal cancer and filarial infection.
Today, if you go to the National Science Museum of Japan you will see Hachiko's final resting place as a stuffed exhibit and in Shibuya Station, you will see a statue made to honor Hachiko's love and loyalty to his master? Owner? No, Friend.
